Race Day and Parking Information

 

Parking:

 

Both Takapuna Beach and Gulf Harbour have plentiful public parking. There may be charge on Saturdays, so check where you park. Most council parking is free on Sundays.

 

Surfski and OC/Vaa drop off:

Takapuna Beach: The reserve adjacent to the Takapuna Boating Club will have plenty of room for skis and OC1s.

Gulf Harbour: There is a reserve at the sea entry to Gulf Harbour that will be adjacent to race start.

Day 1 Takapuna Beach Reserve

Registration: 11.00am                         Safety scrutineering: 12.00pm

Race briefing: 1.45pm                      

Race start Vaa and Surfski: 1.00pm

International team paddlers seeded to the front.

 

Finish time: From 2.30pm 

              
Race officially over at 4.00pm.      High tide: 11.27am

 

Day 2 at Race Start (Gulf Harbour or Takapuna Beach Reserve)

 

Getting to Gulf Harbour:

Take motorway north and then turn off at Silverdale (just after Snowplanet). Head up hill after Silverdale to the Whangapaoroa turnoff, which is on the right. Next, head 12km along Whangapaoroa Rd towards Gulf Harbour. Just past Wentworth College is a roundabout. Take second turn into Laurie Southwick Parade. Travel right to the end of this road, where there is a grassed area with parking next to the Ferry Terminal.

Total travel time from Takapuna is about 40 minutes.

Race day entertainment:

Day 1: Race commentary on Takapuna Beach from 12.30pm on through to race finish.

Day 2: Race commentary at start and finish.

Changing rooms and Showers for paddlers:

Takapuna Boating Club, The Strand, Takapuna. Take all valuables with you; there is no security during the day.

Post-race activities and Prize-giving:

Day 1: To be announced, Takapuna from 4.30 to 6pm.

Day 2: Takapuna Boating Club, from 5.30pm. Complimentary main meal for all competitors from 6pm. Full World Cup prize-giving at 7.30pm
