:: RACE RULES ::

:: 1. Race Start and Finish

a. Pre-race briefing.

Will take place at 5 minutes to race time (5.55pm Takapuna or 9.25am Mission Bay). This is compulsory for all paddlers, and will inform paddlers of any late changes in course or expected changes in weather. The series organisers take no responsibility for race errors due to paddlers not being present at the briefing.

b. Race Start.

Most starts will be parallel to Takapuna Beach looking out to sea, standing beside your craft in knee-deep water. The start will be by single blast of a hooter. A double blast signals a false start. The race organisers may choose to do a deep water or Le Mans style start to add variety at some stage during the season.

c. Race Finish.

Competitors will paddle into the shallow water before dismounting their craft and running up the beach between two Nutra-Life flags which will mark the finish line. Your time will only be taken when you cross that line. Paddlers are advised to assist the timekeepers by shouting out their name, number and race category.

:: 4. Series points

To be eligible for a series category prize, you must compete in at least 10 races, at least one of which must be a Sunday Mission Bay Race. All 10 races must be raced in the same craft, distance and age category.

However paddlers are free to race in more than one category (eg as a paddler gets fitter they may wish to step up from the short course to the long course races) in the knowledge that the points may not count to their series tally.

·         The formula is as follows:

100 + (100-(paddlers time/winners time)*100)

·         The series category winners are the paddlers who accumulate the most points over 10 series races. There are 19 series races in the series, hence you are able to take your best 10 scores i.e. you can throw away your 9 worst scores!

·         The competitor with the most points in each category will be presented with an award at the Prize Giving function at the end of the series.

:: 5. Post-race Prizegiving
