TASMAN BAY

Motueka is an idyllic small town which sits on the Motueka River banks, on the waters of Tasman Bay. Known also as the ‘gateway to the Abel Tasman National Park’, the gems of the region are many, and for ocean surfski paddlers these gems can be experienced in their fullness from the water.

It’s difficult to image a better starting location for a surfski event than Kaiteriteri Beach, and equally, Māpua Wharf is an excellent finishing destination.

On a typical summers day, a northerly sea breeze will provide fun and dynamic following seas for paddling enjoyment. Passing Kina Beach and Ruby Bay, the waters are considered very safe, scenic and achievable to most paddlers.
